The warning or cautionary statements of product manufacturers on their packs are testimony to this fact. The disadvantage of such active systems is also manifested by their other effects, for instance, repeated exposure of these actives in some cases could pose human health hazards and release of such chlorine based actives into the eco system could affect marine/aquatic life and pose numerous other challenges to environment in the long run.
